This looks to-be THE place that will be coordinating the fight to SAVE AIRSOFT in Massachusetts….and it will be both a fight and, if it fails, the DEATH of airsoft as game in Mass., as well as a harbinger of anti-Airsoft legislation across the country. That is not hype. If we ALL do not get behind CRUSHING this bill, Airsoft in the USA has a roadmap for destruction. California was just the beginning. Massachusetts H-3476 is the bitter end. “The law commission has today published its report on firearms which you can read here; There’s a good chance it will be put into law, as this is the case with law commission reports generally. From our perspective the most interesting parts are that they state that the lethality threshold should be set to 1J, but that an airsoft exemption should be created (based around the VCRA 2006 specific exemption). They recommend setting this exemption at 1.3J/2.5J in line with the 2011 ACPO testing. This is great news. Sensible conclusions, no more ‘airsoft legal limit’ grey areas, and they’ve listened to the airsoft associations. This was NOT an airsoft gun, but a BB pistol which is NOT REQUIRED to have an orange tip…not that it matters in Cleveland, home of the latest high-profile officer-involved shooting of a kid in a park with a gun….sheesh…. We added the emphasis….

Airsoft is back in an American legislative body, but this AIR SMART measure might just set some ground-rules for positive use of airguns on local school campuses across the USA. Kansas House Bill 2468 is proposed by Representative Blake Carpenter (R-District 81), and passed a 91-27 floor vote in March, and will be brought back into session in the Senate next week. (April 27th, 2016)
The bill as amended, would "make changes to the Weapons Free School Act by prohibiting school districts from adopting policies preventing organizations from conducting activities on school property solely because the activities involve the possession and use of air guns."
"Under the bill, school districts could prohibit the possession of air guns at a school, on school property, or at a school-supervised activity except when a pupil is participating in activities conducted by an organization or is in transit to or from such activities. School districts could not implement policies that prohibit the possession of an air gun by a pupil on school property if the pupil is a participant in the activities of an organization."
A local school shut down a shooting sports program in spite of a 30-plus year safety record far exceeding other big high school sports such as football, soccer, basketball and volleyball. That's when Carpenter stepped up with the proposal and safeguards to allow use of BB, pellet and airsoft guns on campus under close supervision of organizations for athletic or safety training purposes.
THUMPY's NEWS contacted Representative Carpenter Thursday for an update.
"I managed to get HB2468 into SB65. Hopefully, when we get back the Senate and House will do a conference committee on SB65. They should keep HB2468 inside SB65 and once they pass it out of the committee it will go before both chambers for a yes or no vote. I believe that it has a good opportunity to pass both chambers."

Massachusetts’ proposed House Bill 3476 was heard in the Statehouse in Boston Wednesday afternoon, and was referred back to the state’s House Judiciary Committee. What that means in a nutshell is that the proposed Airsoft/BB-Pellet Gun/Paintball and Sports Shooting KILLER LAW is STILL ALIVE, but NOT YET in a position to be voted on and then sent to the Governor. We are waiting to pass on any video from Rob G. of FUBAR Airsoft or SISU MILSIM, who were part of the pro-Airsoft contingent of players and business owners in the Statehouse all day, trying to both get the message to supportive House Members AND coordinate with other groups opposed to the measure, including GOAL – the Gun Owners Action League in Mass…LINK HERE!

I kinda feel real sadzorz for the guys at retailers and import places in California…as they have to spend an extra amount of their time to spin up customers on this silly law. But, this is what happens when you let politicians write bad law, don’t crush it with vigilance, and then reap the consequences. NOTE TO PLAYERS: We have already seen some of you morons…yea, calling you out but NOT sharing your insanity…putting neon tape on your REAL STEEL GUNS to “show those guys in Sacramento…” Show them what, exactly? That you are stupid and want to get shot? That you were so intelligent to figure this out? Please. Don’t make it worse than it already is. ‘199 Stupid is 199-percent DEAD WRONG! TREAT, NEVER, KEEP, KEEP is in full force-and-effect still. “Rule of 4 Stupids” is still the prevailing rule-of-the-street. Keep all your guns in gun bags/cases/boxes. DO NOT GO OUT IN PUBLIC with any airsoft gun unless it is in a controlled situation. Ever.

But, did reporters read the bills? NO! And it is up to gun-rights organizations like the BFA - nice! - to dive into the details. We will add a few airsoft-specific comments to the excellent article you will read: The chances of any of these bills passing is minute, but Airsoft is again thrown under-the-bus by Paintball and Air Guns...or, its the old divide-and-conquer by lawmakers in Ohio, as it was in California. AND, notice the wording carefully...its almost identical in definitions and phrasing to Cali's SB199...wonder if plagiarizing legislation state to state is a no-no amongst anti-gunner law "breakers." GREAT VIDEO AT THE END, TOO....pass this one on to your battle buddies as one to get everyone up to speed!
