Royalty Free Image Resources | Listly List

High quality images don't need to cost an arm & a leg. These sites offer images that are free to use for personal or commercial use! Just be sure to pay attention to copyright licensing for each. Most are CC0, but not all. We've made note of how each of these sites can be browsed (how & if they are searchable). Searchable is great if you know what you're looking for. Sites that are not searchable, while time consuming, can be great for inspiration when you aren't quite sure what you want. | UNS

Royalties in production is a huge deal. They come in different fields such as design, music, and photo. Using  images for projects can cost a lot, which is why royalty free images can help out the situation without you having to get into legal troubles. Sources and sites like this are very useful to the community.

This is the second of a three-part series on finding OER. Last week, we showed you how to use Google Advanced Search to find openly licensed content. This week, we’ll show you how to search for specific OER media like videos and images using a site’s CC search filter.

One of the things I've most appreciated about the MOOCs I've participated in is the work faculty and providers have done to make quality resources available free. It certainly makes a big difference in affordable learning.

Open educational resources - Wikipedia

Open educational resources - Wikipedia | Didactics and Technology in Education | Scoop.it

Open Educational Resources (OER) are digital materials that can be re-used for teaching, learning, research and more, made available free through open licenses, which allow uses of the materials that would not be easily permitted under copyright alone.[1] As a mode for content creation and sharing, OER alone cannot award degrees nor provide academic or administrative support to students.[2][3] However, OER materials are beginning to get integrated into open and distance education.[4] Some OER producers have involved themselves in social media to increase their content visibility and reputation.[5]

Transitioning to Open Educational Resources

Transitioning to Open Educational Resources | Didactics and Technology in Education | Scoop.it
Over the past two years, I've been working with my district to transition from the popular textbook towards Open Educational Resources, or OER. One of the leading benefits of OER options is that they are free and open to educators. That in itself is a reason to inquire. The information has been vetted for credibility and some of it is derived from some of the world's top colleges and universities.

A transition that will not stop.
Patricia Daniels's curator insight, March 9, 2013 7:46 AM

Making the transition to OERs can be quite daunting as it's not just a matter of accessing open content but repurposing it and digitizing your own to suit your students' needs. I find that using OERs in combination with cloud computing, mobile assisted seamless learning and field trips into virtual worlds, works well with my language students. However, what works within my teaching context may not be appropriate for yours. In my opinion, it's not just about introducing new technologies and pedagogies because they are trending, but doing a thorough analysis of what is needed within a specfic context before transforming your teaching practices, as these transformations  will influence your students' learning environment and learning outcomes.

When Whitney Houston sang about children being the future, that’s only because open source wasn’t really much of a thing back in 1986. But it is now, and it’s the future (sorry, kiddos), so teach it well and let it lead the way. The ongoing popularity of free learning resources, classes, certificates, and more has done more to democratize education than anything else since the advent of public schooling. By this point, anyone with Internet access can receive a world-class education on their own terms and, for the most part, at no cost. Thanks to the efforts of the following websites, more and more self-directed learners work independently or in groups to better their minds.
