American Cardinal Blames Women for “Feminizing” the Catholic Church

American Cardinal Blames Women for “Feminizing” the Catholic Church | Dare To Be A Feminist | Scoop.it
Last year, Pope Francis demoted American Cardinal Raymond Leo Burke by removing him as head of the Apostolic Signatura (the Vatican's high court) and giving him a perfunctory post at the Knights of Malta. This was a big deal because Burke is a fire-breathing reactionary who rose high under Pope Benedict, and his demotion...

More Men Are Raped in US Than Women? Not.

More Men Are Raped in US Than Women? Not. | Dare To Be A Feminist | Scoop.it

You may have come across that assertion before if you have the habit of visiting MRA sites on the net.  I've seen it, but never found any sources for it, except for fuzzy hints that it's because of prison rape of men is not included in the general rape statistics.

Deanna Dahlsad's insight:

The men's rights movement would like to distract from the matter at hand. While men are raped (& abused) looking at the minority of problems does not address the main problem of violence against women. Also, solving the problem of violence against women & rape culture would go a long way in addressing such violence across all genders.

But what's Sexual assault in the first place?

Sexual assault can be verbal, visual, or anything that forces a person to join in unwanted sexual contact or attention. Examples of this are voyeurism (when someone watches private sexual acts), exhibitionism (when someone exposes him/herself in public), incest (sexual contact between family members), and sexual harassment. It can happen in different situations:  in the home by someone you know, on a date, or by a stranger in an isolated place.

Cecily McMillan's 'Occupy' Trial, and the Fight Against Sexual Assault at Protests | Dare To Be A Feminist | Scoop.it
Cecily McMillan is now on trial for defending herself at an Occupy Wall Street protest after she felt someone grab her breast. McMillan's decision to fight back—both immediately after she was groped and now, in court—is brave, and sends a powerful message that women should not be blamed for defending themselves.

This study seems to been conducted on young girls so I am assuming that they are dealing with young boys. If these boys are allowed to act this way they will continue to do so when they grow up and that is madness.
