While shocking to any reasonable person’s conscience, these laws are surprisingly common. Thirty-one states have laws that restrict a pregnant woman’s ability to direct her doctor to remove life-sustaining treatment. In states like Texas, even if a pregnant woman explicitly says that she doesn’t want life-sustaining treatment, her express wishes can be ignored based on the state’s claimed interest in the fetus she is carrying.

The road ahead for abortion providers and their allies to not only preserve George Tiller’s specialized service, but simply to stay open, is hardly an easy one. I chose this article because there is another form of slavery happening in the United States. It may not be called slavery but it is definantly similar. Costas question: Compare and Contrast slavery and this new form of punishment.

Following a discriminatory act based on their sexual orientation, a lesbian couple of Isle of Man wishes an anti-discriminatory law for LGBTQ people.
The landlord refused the rental agreement with Kara Izzard and Laura Cull because they are lesbians.
They have had then the bad surprise to discover that there is no law in Isle of Man to protect them in this kind of situation whereas civil unions and adoption are possible for same-sex couples.
"I was so shocked to hear this and felt sick, said Cull. "I didn't know where to go or what to do as I didn't have a legal leg to stand on so after speaking with my partner Kira we thought that the only thing we could do was to share our story with as many people as possible and try and raise awareness that on this beautiful island that we call home we can still be treated this way." “I think it shows that the real purpose here is not to protect women, which is what has been claimed, but I think the real purpose is to keep women from accessing safe and legal health care services in the state of North Dakota,” Katz said. “And I think it’s unfortunate that women in North Dakota have to keep going to court in order to make sure that their constitutionally protected rights remain protected.”

I agree that it would have been more appropriate to protect the victom's privacy in this incident, but perhaps the thought was to put a real face on a tragedy that is happening in our country? I don't know Jill Stanek, but I respect her concern that women are dieing due to complications from abortions! We need to seriously consider regulations to the abortion providers that prevent this from happening again.

That isn't really why she did it. And appropriate doesn't begin to cover it. What Jill Stanek did was, as the author said, immoral. I is beyond me how people who call themselves Christian can have so little compassion.

The only concern Jill Stanek has regarding "the complications women have from abortions" is that she believes these women do not suffer enough. It's not just that she doesn't want women to have abortions (I think that's a prayer every person has), but Stanek works to create a world in which no woman would be allowed to have one. Removing choice isn't just removing our fundamental right under the United States Constitution, it isn't just a matter of socio-economic class (i.e. the wealthy go elsewhere to get them), but taking away Choice is to work towards the death of more women. The next time some pro-lifer goes to vote that platform, they should accept the fact that they are voting for more women to die.
