Octavia Waight Celebrated its Golden Citizen's Birthday | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

Feelgood story of the week.  The Octavia Waight Centre just celebrated the birthday of its oldest resident, Ms. Camelia Espenoza, who turned 104.  Manager Luis Pulido says, "What we are doing here for our seniors, it’s a gift.  You have to have a gift to do this type of work we do, it’s more than a work of course.  It’s all true God, they are because of Him.  If He wants us to go one day then we will move on but at the moment I think God wants us to take care of our seniors.  There are some of our seniors who are destitute, who need a home, who need love and this is where we are.  Of course apart from the love we do take care of them, the medical side, the health we do have a nurse, a doctor, a physiotherapy, we do their laundry, cook – this is home, this is home till God is ready but of course we do have a home for our people here in Belize and we would like to of course don’t forget the community who have helped us a lot and it’s because of them it’s where we are today."  Happy belated birthday!
