Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture

The Institute for Sustainable International Studies is teaming up with Dr. Edwardo Tesecum to bring another free spay and neuter clinic to San Antonio this weekend.  Their vet students are getting some great training while in Belize, and the Cayo communities are getting helped at the same time.  The clinic will be Saturday morning, starting at 9:00am.  Thanks, ISIS!

"Spread the word that ISIS and Dr. Tesecum will be offering a free Animal Health Clinic in the village of San Antonio this coming Saturday.  Come early if your animal needs a spay or neuter surgery."

Feelgood animal news of the day.  The Belize Wildlife Referral Clinic and the Institute for Sustainable International Studies teamed up to provide a vet clinic at Cancha Marshalleck.  Thanks, ISIS and BWRC!

The Institute for Sustainable International Studies is having another vet clinic tomorrow.  San Antonio is the location this time.  The students, along with Dr. Tesecum, spayed and neutered many animals at the Bullet Tree Falls clinic, pictured above, a few weeks ago.  Thanks, ISIS.

"Our summer students volunteered to help with a vet clinic in the Village of Bullet Tree Falls.  Students and their supervising Vets saw 58 animals and preformed 15 spay surgeries.  Paying it forward from ISIS to Belize."

Feelgood news of the day.  The Institute for Sustainable International Studies vet students held a spay and neuter clinic in Bullet Tree.  They have a video from the clinic.  The next clinic will be in San Antonio on Saturday, June 21, starting at 9:00am, at the community center.  Thanks, ISIS!

The Institute for Sustainable International Studies has another group of vet students in, and they've been doing check ups and cleanings on the resident iguanas at the Green Iguana Conservation Project.  Have fun, and thanks, ISIS.

"The first field trip is always a hit!  Thanks to the always enthusiastic and well trained guides at San Ignacio Hotel Green Iguana Project, and of course thanks to the many amazing green baby animals... a great time was had by all.  This was the introduction and we will be back to get a bit more 'involved' for the regular check up and maintenance of 70 - 100 iguanas next week."

You don't hear the term 'iguana maintenance' in too many places, but the Green Iguana Conservation Project is one place where you do.  The Institute for Sustainable International Studies along with the Belize Wildlife Referral Clinic make sure that the iguanas stay in tip top shape by having their veterinary students give them a check-up.  Thanks, ISIS and BWRC!
