Channel 5 says it well while looking back at Rowan Garel's Walk Across Belize.

"The daily newscast is often dominated by crime, but the story of a young and heroic blind teenager has captured our attention and captivated the hearts of thousands across the nation.  Rowan Garel is an inspiration, who we have been following for some time.  When he climbed atop Victoria Peak last year, we were there to record that amazing feat.  This time he set out to walk across Belize. In Healthy Living tonight we look back at the powerful story of the Belizean teenager who is beating all the odds."

And they're off!  Rowan is making great progress, and many of his fellow walkers and supporters are with him.  He got from Benque to Santa Elena yesterday.  Best of luck to Rowan garel on his 90 mile journey.

Feelgood story of the week.  Rowan Garel, who is walking from Benque to Belize in a few weeks to raise funds for the visually impaired, graduated last week from Hummingbird Elementary.  Congratulations, Rowan!

Rowan's journey will start in Benque on Thursday, July 12th, when he'll walk to Santa Elena.  On the 13th, he'll walk to Belmopan, and he'll finish in Belize City on the 16th.  The most amazing part of this story is that Rowan is also blind.  Best of luck!  

"Funds raised from the Walk will go toward daily support for the children in the Rehab Program.  This includes, visits to their homes and schools for one-on-one sessions in all aspects of their daily lives; from counseling parents of newly blind children to working with the teachers in their classrooms providing the necessary training and skills to work with children who are visually impaired."
