Congratulations to the Benque Viejo Marching Band, and all the other winners at the 2023 Band Fest.  They performed the Belize National Anthem since they are the reigning champions.  

The 2020 season of the NEBL is here.  The first game of the season is in San Pedro, where the Tiger Sharks will host the Defenders.  The first Verdes match is on Friday the 24th, where they host the Running Rebels.

The Belmopan Bandits won the NEBL championship last night in San Pedro against the Tiger Sharks, 75 - 67.  Congratulations, Bandits!  They are having a motorcade tomorrow to celebrate.

Sacred Heart Junior College Tourism Management students visited San Pedro to learn about customer service and see more of what Belize offers.  The Villas at Banyan Bay provided affordable, and beautiful, rooms for the students, and was just what they needed to experience.  Tuff E Nuff Tours really took care of them.  Great service and they educated the students about the barrier reef.

Congratulations are in order.  Cayo was listed on Trip Advisor's top 10 Central American destinations, based upon travelers' experiences in the region.  As it should be, since we have so much to do, including Cahal Pech, seen in the picture.  Cayo came in at 7th place.  San Pedro, the only other Belize entry, came in 1st place.

The Western Ballaz, along with the other 3 teams that made the NEBL playoffs, are all shown in this promotional video.  The Ballaz host the Belize City No Limit this Friday, then travel to play them the next weekend.  The Belmopan Bandits will travel to San Pedro this weekend to play the Tiger Sharks.  Go Cayo!  Go Ballaz!  See you at the game.

The San Pedro Virtual Music Festival will be on Sunday, September 12th, from noon to 7:30pm. Many Belizean artists will be performing during the event.

"The San Pedro Virtual Music Festival is coming together nicely. This will include performances from 8 acts from 12 noon San Pedro time until 7:30 at the Angel Nunez Auditorium. No audience will be allowed or present. Only performers and camera crew are allowed on campus.

Mind & Me has announced the date and place for their launch party.  It'll be on Saturday, May 19th at Casa Sofia in Unitedville.  If you want to see Night Quest before the launch, he's mixing at the Festival of the Sun and Moon next Saturday in San Pedro.  

Night Quest mixed last month at the Moon Vibes beach rave, and he was superb.

Congratulations, Kiah Pastor!  She won the Miss Teen Belize pageant, which was held last weekend in San Pedro.  She'll be representing Belize in Ecuador at the Miss Teen Earth pageant.

The Official Western Ballaz are getting ready for the next season of the NEBL. The host the San Pedro San Pedro Tiger Sharks this Friday, January 13th, at SHC.

Feelgood news of the day.  Vanilla Hills donated food and supplies to Caledonia, which was hit hard by Hurricane Earl.

"On August 4th Hurricane Earl made landfall on Belize. This hurricane had a huge impact on several areas in Belize. Not only in San Pedro, Belize City and San Ignacio. There were and still are many more villages affected. One of them is Caledonia close to Orange Walk where the people make their living cutting sugar cane. We heard from this village since the family from one of our worker is living there. The hurricane destroyed the crops and the people have no work, no income, no money to buy food.

When we talked about this to our family on our last trip to Germany. Claudia's Mom immediately decided to help. She used her birthday party as a fundraiser. Instead of getting any presents, she asked friends and family to donate some money. In the end she raised more than 3.300 BZ$. She gave us the money and we arranged everything here. We bought more than 1.800 lbs of rice, beans and flour, as well as coffee and for families with little children we bought milk and diapers. Yesterday we distributed everything to 45 families. Thanks to everybody who supported this little project and a special thanks to a wonderful person (Claudia's Mom) who was so generous starting this fundraiser."

Chef Sean Kuylen demonstrated how to cook plantain tostones with avacado and shrimp on the first episode of Cooking with Flavors of Belize.  The video is shot well, and Chef Kuylen makes it look easy, and delicious.  Warning: You will be hungry after watching.
