The SISE House of Culture will have yoga classes throughout December at 5pm on Wednesdays and Fridays. They'll have kids classes starting at 4pm.

Joshua Arana spoke at TedX Belmopan, and not only does he give a lesson on the drums and their differing sounds, he talks a lot about Garifuna culture.  He plays and sings a little too.

"A powerful performance talk, Josh Arana tells us the story of how drumming taught him the value of women in the Garifuna culture, and women on a whole. Joshua Arana is a proud graduate of Ecumenical High School in Dangriga. As a child, he was always passionate about his drums. He loved drumming so much that it got him into trouble many days for playing on the desk.

He made a career out of his passion and today that career has landed him in over 20 countries all over the world to places like Japan, Germany, France, Spain, Ireland, and Switzerland. His drumming led to his current job as the Coordinator of the Stann Creek House of Culture."

The SISE House of Culture will be screening the movie One Day On Earth for free, on Earth Day, at 7:00pm, at Midas Resort.

"Watch this unique film created from over 3000 hours of footage, and shot in every country of the world on October 10th 2010.  Together, they created a picture of interconnected humanity never before possible."

Benque Viejo's House of Culture is having their Sawdust Art Project for Good Friday.  It'll be tomorrow from 6:00am up.  Thanks to NICH and the Benque HoC!

Don't forget that the SISE House of Culture is showing Hokmah's Daughter tonight at 6:30.  They'll be set up right downtown, in front of the post office.  Mary Open Doors will give a presentation too.  And don't forget, you can bring books and cans of food to donate, via Galen's RUSH drive, for the Arms of Love primary school.

The SISE House of Culture got some fantastic shots of the Ruta Maya Cultural Event last night.  Not a lot of people made it in the chilly rain, but those that did were presented with a great show, and wonderful music from the Galen Eagles Band.

The 2017 Benque Posadas will be starting this Friday, December 15th, at 8:00pm.  There will be marimba music.

The National Institute for Culture and History has a creative promotional video out explaining what they are all about.  NICH is comprised of the Institute for Social and Cultural Research, the various Houses of Culture, the Museums of Belize, the Institute of Archaeology, and the Institute of Creative Arts.  You'll see fliers for all of the events happening this month for the Festival of Arts, which started on the 3rd, and runs through the 22nd.  It also features Tanya Carter and Melonie Gillett singing 'Low,' so it's definitely worth a watch.

In related news, the Belize Archaeology and Anthropology Symposium is July 2nd through the 5th, and it'll be at the San Ignacio Resort Hotel.  The Belize Film Festival will be from July 11th through the 15th.

Tonight, at Midas Resort, the SISE House of Culture will be showing 'One Day On Earth' in celebration of Earth Day.  Belize will be shown in the movie.  It's the first movie ever to be shot in every country on Earth on the same day.  Don't miss it.  Midas is the perfect spot for it.  Enjoy your Earth Day!

The SISE House of Culture is doing their movie night on Earth Day...Earth Night.  They will be showing One Day on Earth, which is the first film ever shot in every country in the world on the same day.  Sounds like quite a project, and it must be quite diverse.  

"ONE DAY ON EARTH creates a picture of humanity by recording a 24-hour period throughout every country in the world. We explore a greater diversity of perspectives than ever seen before on screen. We follow characters and events that evolve throughout the day, interspersed with expansive global montages that explore the progression of life from birth, to death, to birth again. The SISE House of Culture will be open on Thursday until 12:00 noon, and will then be closed until Tuesday.  Happy Easter to the SISE HoC.

Check out that costume!  The SISE House of Culture and NICH threw a pretty cool LRM Cultural Night at Macal Park last night.  The Galen Eagles played some great songs, and Orquidea Negra did a few Mayan dances. 

The SISE House of Culture unveiled their Heroes and Benefactors Exhibit today.  There was a large crowd to enjoy the kick off festivities and food.  Here are some pictures of the event.  If you missed it, never fear, the exhibit is running through the month of March.
