The Benque HoC is having their Finados on Monday, November 2nd.  They are having their Noche de Cuente Cuentos this Friday.

The Benque House of Culture had their Finados, honoring Elias Awe.  In the evening, they had their Noche de Cueta Cuentos.

The San Ignacio Public Library is having their first Finados this evening at 5:00pm.  Like their page to keep current with their events. 

"In 1936 the Jubilee Public Library established a 'sub-library' in the town of El Cayo San Ignacio.  It consisted of books which were kept in the District Commissioner's Office.  In 1951, the sub-library of San Ignacio was moved from the Commissioner's Office to the lower flat of the El Cayo Town Board.  In the subsequent years there was a need for more space since the library was already undersized for the number of patrons it served.  An ambitious project began; which was to provide the population of San Ignacio and surrounding areas with a new public library.  The Mayor of San Ignacio/Santa Elena, John August was approached and it didn’t take long when the new library site was identified being the dilapidated meat market.  With the tremendous contribution of the Social Investment Fund, The Rotary Club, San Ignacio/ Santa Elena Town Council and the Belize National Library Service and Information System (BNLSIS) , the new library became a reality and had its grand inauguration on November 3rd 2010."

Tomorrow, the SISE HoC is having their Finados altar display starting at 9:30am.  They are dedicating it to Elias Awe, who was a pillar of the Cayo community.  It's been just a little over a year, but we'll say it again: Godspeed, Mr. Awe.

The Benque House of Culture and CACHE are having another Noche de Cuenta Cuentos on Friday, November 1st, starting at 7:00pm.  Once again David Ruiz, along with others like Pedro Can, will be telling some thrilling tales.

In related news, the Finados alter display is that same day, and it will be an homage to Mr. Elias Awe.  It will start at 9:00am and go until 5:00pm.

The SISE House of Culture is having a Finados Alter Display on October 30th.  They'll have some traditional and culture food you can try.  The display is in honor of Mrs. Merdit Sanz.

The San Ignacio Public Library had their first Finados.

"The San Ignacio Public Library held its first finados remembering those who have departed before us."

The SISE HoC had their Finados yesterday, honoring Elias Awe.  It was simple, well done, and they had a good turnout for the great food.

"This year's Finados were in honor of Elias Awe.  They had some of his favorite dishes.  They had food for all the lucky visitors too.  Thanks, SISE HoC!"

The Benque HoC will be having their Finados tomorrow for the Dia de los Muertos.  They will also be honoring Elias Awe.  The 9:00am prayer time has filled up, but they'll have space starting at 10:30.  Later in the evening, they'll have their Noche de Cuenta Cuentos, where David Ruiz and Pedro Can, among others, will tell some stories about Benque.
