The 13th annual BAAS starts on Tuesday, June 30th.  Once again, it'll be in the Bedran Hall at the San Ignacio Resort Hotel.  They have some interesting topics this year.  Call 822-2016, or email research@nichbelize.org for more information.

"Be sure to look out for one of the highlight events of this summer, the 13TH Annual Archaeology and Anthropology Symposium set for June 30th – July 3rd, 2015 at the San Ignacio Resort Hotel (in San Ignacio, Cayo).  This year, local and international scholars will congregate to present scholarly papers and discourse topics such as; 'Settlement and landscape Archaeology' ; 'Social Organization & Political Boundaries of the Ancient Maya' and also 'Examining the Representation of Indigenous Peoples in Belize and the region.'"

Orquidea Negra is everywhere right now!  They were at the Belize Archaeology and Antrhopology Symposium for their opening night.  They'll be at Cancha Marshalleck tomorrow night for the Benque Noche Cultural.  Great talent, excellent props, innovative dress, and cool dances.

The Belize Archaeology and Anthropology Symposium starts tomorrow.  It'll be at the San Ignacio Resort Hotel from Tuesday, July 2nd, through Friday, July 5th.  The Institute of Archaeology has the schedule posted on their page, along with updates and pictures from the event setup.  Looks like a lot of knowledge will be imparted this week.  Dr. Jaime Awe and Dr. Anabel Ford will be presenting, along with a nice line up of other well published experts in the archaeological field.

NICH's Institute of Archaeology had this year's Belize Archaeology and Anthropology Symposium, which ran from Tuesday to Friday.  This year's BAAS was streamed live.  Mark your calendars for next year. 

NICH had the Belize Archaeology and Anthropology Symposium last week at the SIRH, and they had a great turnout for the seminars and lectures.

The Belize Archaeology and Antrhopology Symposium's last day is tomorrow.  The CTGA site has a brief synopsis of it, and the changes the SIRH made for the event.

"The San Ignacio Resort Hotel were also on a mission to finish the bar in time for the BAAS.  They went with a very modern look which includes silver walls and a nice touch with two TVs. Long gone are the days of the The Stork Club and its Thursday karaoke.  If we recall, the Stork Club was a much larger room and had mixed themes, but mostly a western look.  It’s a lounge now, or as they have called it, a ‘lobby bar’ as it has a more fluent transition from the lobby to the bar itself.  The San Ignacio Hotel has been undergoing a number of upgrades since September of 2013."

The Belize Archaeology and Anthropology Symposium was last week, here at the San Ignacio Resort Hotel.  They are slowly adding pictures from the event.  They had scores of great presentations throughout the week.

The BAAS this year, which will be held at the San Ignacio Resort Hotel, will be from July 2nd through the 5th.  The theme will be: 'Ancient Maya: Household and Social Identity in Belize.'

"The 11th instalment of the Belize Archaeology and Anthropology Symposium (BAAS) is scheduled for July 2nd - July 5th, 2013 in San Ignacio, Belize.  Registration for the conference will begin on March 4th, 2013.  Participants are encouraged to pre-register and make travel plans early so that they can be guaranteed a place as well as advantageous rates on travel.  Presentations of the symposium proper will be held inside the San Ignacio Resort Hotel Bedran Hall starting on Tuesday July 2nd  and continue through to Friday July 5th, 2013."
